I’m up to lots of knitting recently that I can’t share yet, which is frustrating since the whole blogging thing really was originally about the instant gratification feedback. I post a photo of a finished sweater and someone passing through can say “Oooooooo”. It was a simple equation that has now gotten turned on its ear, as most of what I’ve got marinating in the finished pile won’t be out for almost 8 months. So.
I do have a hat I’m working on (what with winter coming and all that). This is a theory of mine that the cable from my Skipperdee cardigan would make a jolly hat band on a slouchy kind of thing, so here I am, trying that idea out with some Green Mountain Spinnery Alpaca Elegance I picked up at Rhinebeck last month. I might have to try again, one repeat extra next time around, but I can’t tell yet as I am only halfway through the cable. I like a slouchy hat, rather than a fitted one. It’s primarily a hair matter, but also comes of being tall. The proportion of a small hat just shrinks my head, which makes the overall silhouette a bit improbable. So slouchy is what I’m aiming for. Will report back.

I’m with you on the hair-in-hats problem – I’ve yet to find one that is truly becoming. Speaking of Green Mountain Spinnery, I managed to wrangle my husband into there AND into Harrisville on a recent foliage trip – and I DIDN’T BUY ANYTHING! There’s just so much a gentleman can be expected to put up with.
Really love that colorway! Looking forward to seeing your finished project(s).
Eagerly watching for this one. I have a niece who is tall and has hair very much like yours. I expect whatever works for you in a hat will be just right for her Christmas gift! Have Alpaca Elegance at the ready.
