Today’s post is by Threadpanda, an item for her regular Friday Finds feature. If you don’t know her blog, I recommend it for her curatorial bent, as a digest of independent designers and other good stuff.
Today’s pattern prize is Hetty’s Garden, an elegant coat with floral detailing on the back, a mandarin collar, and generous pockets.
Hetty’s Garden Coat is more tailored than the sketch would suggest. I dropped the faced hems from the original idea as I found them to be too bulky, and used an interesting ribbing treatment instead, one that leads logically into the stitches that form the flower pattern.
The sweater is named for Hetty Whitney, another of my favorite member of the Folly Cove Designers. Hetty’s print “Victory Garden” has a loose connection to the flower pattern on the back, which quite honestly has been stewing in my sketch book for awhile. When I went looking for useful ideas to show Susan Mills for the collection, this coat was the first pattern I showed her.
It’s worked up in Classic Elite Wynter, which comes in a number of garden-y colors. Click over to Threadpanda and comment for a chance to win the pattern, and don’t forget, the whole Folly Cove collection is 10% off this week when you use the checkout code FFC10.
