200_finola_300A couple of small victories this weekend to report.  Simply Marilyn is sailing along.  I’ve finished the front and cast on for the back.  Cornelia chose the plaited cable as a substitute for Debbie Bliss’ horseshoe cable, and the tripartite structure of the thing did throw the symmetry off at first, especially critical down there at an edge that really wants to be a rolled hem.  I conquered it quickly by putting reverse stockinette in between the two outer "plaits".  See the difference in how nicely it lays?

I’m already thinking about my next project.  I am going to go out on a limb here and do something entirely new for me.  I’m going to start a sweater for which I bought the yarn within a week of the yarn purchase.  I signed up for Nathania‘s Tank Along, and I’m going to make Finola from Berocco #200 out of my lovely Zen (click on the pic for a link).  I am only stalling on The Return of Jaipur for Alison‘s Drape-along, I know.  But I can knit the two of them at the same time.  I promise.  Once Marilyn is finished, I’ll cast on for both of them at the same time.  No joke.  Stop laughing.

And the other little triumph is that I’ve finally written out the instructions for the Dino Hoodie for all two of you waiting for it (Kim & Judy, you still with me?)  This is my first written pattern and I want to knit through it myself to keep low the number of emails I have to send apologizing for broken addis and burned out row counters.  Where are the journeyman technical editors of the world when you need them?
