One of the most maligned and misunderstood techniques in knitting!
Have you ever loved a pattern but turned it down because it involved intarsia? Have you tried it and found your edges wonky or quit because of the yarn nest forming in your lap? Come have fun unlearning all the misinformation liberating your prejudices for fabulous results, and opening up a whole new world of possibilities for your needles. We’ll knit a swatch in class you can sew as a trophy to your brownie sash and talk about the several varieties of intarsia and yarn management strategies for minimizing ends.
A multi-crafting weekend by Purity Lake in East Madison, New Hampshire. Join me, Ana Campo of Salem’s Circle of Stitches yarn shop, Ellen Mason of Odacier, jewelry maker Jesse Mixer, and Tammy White of Wing and a Prayer Farm, for two and a half days of making beautiful things with our hands.
I will be joining Fiona Ellis, Susan B. Anderson, Patty Lyons, Nicki Epstein, and Michelle Hunter at Webs’ first Spring Retreat, May 2-5, 2019. Registration opens January 17th.
I’ll be teaching Combination Knitting, Finishing, Intarsia, and a crowd favorite, Steeks for the Timid.
Join me, Thea Colman, Jessica Forbes, and Norah Gaughan at the Boston Park Plaza for a wonderful weekend of private museum visits, shopping, classes, and just-for-fun knitting in my home town, Boston! Click through for details, and register soon!
This is a retreat in the truest sense, a weekend away, moments of peace and quiet, a chance to visit Vermont with your needles and yarn and knit with like-minded crafters who are equally excited about learning new tips and techniques.
We will focus on intarsia and techniques that are related to intarsia, refreshing this classic technique through contemporary applications. We’ll begin with an intarsia introduction, then we’ll learn more about the eddy shells. On Sunday, we’ll conclude by working on a beautifully simple and graphic mitten in the round designed specifically for this event, practicing various stranding options and possible embellishments.
